THE NETWORK COMPUTING AWARDS 2007

The Hotel Russell

March 21st

THAT WAS THE NIGHT THAT WAS

This year is the inaugural year for the Network Computing Awards

The readers of Network Computing have really taken the awards to their hearts and voted in their droves. In excess of 4,000 readers voted for their favourite products and companies.

The evening started with a champagne reception, which really did set the tone for the evening! By 8pm, there had been enough champagne consumed to sink a battleship.

Old friends mingled with new, in what we hope will become the networking/computing industry’s premier networking (no pun intended!) event.

By the time desert was served, compere Roy Walker was entertaining the industry’s finest with his own unique brand of offbeat humour, often resulting in raucous laughter.

When Roy had finished his set, he was joined on stage by Stuart Leigh (Network Computing magazine’s publisher) and they rattled through the awards, with Roy continuing to entertain at each and every turn. The most notable winners were CISCO (THREE awards) IBM (two awards) and 3COM, who took the 2007 accolade of ‘Network Computing Company of the Year’.

A full list of winners can be found at the end of this report.

Once the Network Computing Awards were finished, and winners congratulated, the serious business of networking resumed and carried on until way after carriages at 1am, with one of the highlights being our sales staff being in the same room as 150 marketing managers and NOT being able to sell to them!

One well known client was doing his finest John Travolta impersonation which we have caught on film and one merry little soul leaving the bar at 7.00am (not necessarily the same person!) A party worthy of the network computing industry.

Well done to everyone for making this a special night – and, of course, to all of our winners, across all of the categories. We look forward to welcoming you to the 2008 Network Computing Awards, where, once again, the readers of Network Computing magazine will reward the outstanding products and services for which our industry has become a byword.

Network Computing Magazine would like to take this opportunity to thank this years sponsors AMCC Storage & Napier Technology Marketing & PR. More details can be found at www.networkcomputingawards.co.uk
