Information and Communications – Networked
Introduction
Technology is advancing all the time. The "network" has evolved. The
growing importance of IP enabled technology and convergence means that the Network
Manager now needs a good knowledge of a wider range of products than ever before.
Being able to run a secure, efficient network with an increasing number of applications
is paramount in today's world. And it's not just the additional applications
that present new challenges. Organisations have to be aware of new legislation
and penalties for not being compliant. Whilst all of the above means that investment
in many aspects of technology is on the increase, organisations still have to
look at the business case and cost-justify expenditure. Utilising existing technology
and personnel in the right way is also highly important.
Network Computing will aim to lead the debate, understand
the challenges, examine the changes and hype and communicate best practice associated
with all aspects of running of a network. Technology is not covered in the magazine
just to recognise and applaud the skill that has gone into producing it. The
benefits and challenges of implementing such technology, including the cost
implications are the important factors for readers of Network Computing.
The magazine addresses the key issues through a range
of article-types. Technology updates will cover developments in key areas of
technology. Case studies show how solutions have helped real-life organisations
overcome problems and work better. Product reviews provide an independent expert's
assessment of a product. The Network Computing "Masterclass" series
was introduced in 2007 to enable suppliers to connect with readers in an educational
way on a subject they have particular expertise in via their own regular column.
The magazine also carries comment articles, interviews and news.
To conclude, Network Computing continues to be read and
respected by those running networks and purchasing the products and services
that run on, monitor, power or protect these networks. Therefore, the magazine
represents the ideal advertising vehicle for those aiming to sell such solutions.
